Engineered hardwood floors offer several advantages over solid wood floors. Thanks to advancements in manufacturing technology, engineered wood floors can be used in almost any room in the home. This includes installing over concrete slabs. The top veneer can be any wood specie without wasting as much of the tree as for cutting solid wood planks. Also, the factory applied finishes are extremely durable.

Most engineered wood floors are pre-finished at the factory, which eliminates the mess, extra time and vapors associated with applying the finish coats on the job-site. Pre-finished floors are ready to be walked on right after the installation is completed. No long waiting for staining and applying coats of finish. Factory applied finishes are UV-cured with ultra violet lights which creates a much harder finish than a job-site finish

Quote from the  Sunday Times 29.03.09 Fab Floors Kathrina Burroughs

Wooden floors never go out of fashion, but there's a moden take on this traditional favourite - engineered timber boards ."People come to the shop and full in love with solid wood but 80% of customers end up buying engineered," This is because the product isn't any less beautiful than its solid sister, but is better adaped to modern living conveniences such as underfloor heating. "When moisture enters solid timber, the wood expands- then moves again as it dries out. the layers of ply holding the oak together in engineered boards make them more stable."

Xylo Engineered floors offer a number of principle benefits over solid hardwood flooring. It is immediatley obvious when looking at an engineered board that the construction is much more involved than that of a solid timber.

The key advantage offered by an engineered floor over a solid product is the fact that the product can be installed as a 'floating floor' as opposed to needing to be directly fixed to the sub-floor. This provides substantial savings in terms of installation costs. Engineered floors are also suitable for laying over floors with underfloor heating. Xylos Premier has a 6mm top layer so an even better floor.

Xylo Flooring offer five ranges of engineered boards that are available in both lacquered and oiled finishes, namely the Prestige Collection, Premier Collection ,

X-Otic Collection, Fine-Line Collection and the X-Treme Collection.
